About the Artist - Naveen Lalla

Naveen’s journey in art began late (in his mid-40s) and being self-taught he found himself a prisoner of artistic curiosity.  How colors play off each other.  How tones and values seem to have a direct correlation to emotion.  How the right ‘mark’ on a canvass can Evoke that ever elusive “wow” from an audience.   Understanding how art and people interconnect has evolved this curiosity beyond a casual pastime for Naveen.  The fact that art can touch someone’s soul has truly captured his attention.

Being captivated by the power of imagery, Naveen (through his art) tries to depict his thoughts not only in time and space, but also tries to project that imagery through the lens of mood and emotion. Through this process, Naveen hopes his pieces will ignite interest, explore thoughts, spark conversations and ultimately connect people.

His artwork attempts to  explore the use of color to capture imagery, space, time, mood and emotion. Some pieces in the collection utilizes a monochromatic pallet as the perfect backdrop to explore the power of color, whilst other pieces use color to explore the power of mood and emotion.

Naveen is committed to perpetual improvement as an artist as well as to positively contribute to the artistic landscape of Trinidad and Tobago
